There is always extra cardboard when a box is cut out.  Although we always fill up the recycle bin, some of the cutouts look like they’d be perfect to use to make something.  I hate to waste, don’t you?

Fact:  Did you know – Cardboard and paper make up around 41% of solid waste streams. An average household can throw away as much as 13,000 separate pieces off cardboard every year. … In the United States, 850 million tons of paper and cardboard are thrown away annually. This equates to around 1 billion trees, a terrifyingly high number.

Back to my brilliant Idea – With this bright idea, I took a few scraps to my granddaughter’s school and asked them if they could use anything like this.  Their bright eyes and BIG smile were explanation without words.  Needless to say, they were excited and with enthusiasm said “We’d Love Them!”

For the past several months we have been donating our discards, cut-outs from boxes, edges, little cutouts, etc. to the Elementary School. The other day my Granddaughter brought home this cute little house to show their appreciation for our donations. Nothing goes unused. I thought it was so clever. What do you think??
